Although we may not always see eye to eye, I want you to know I appreciate you.
I am thankful for the way you raised me, and for the way you continue to raise me.
I am thankful that you let me fail on my own, and don't shield me from the hard comings of life.
I am thankful for your selflessness, and always putting my needs above your own.
I thank you for the countless meals, clothes, and sleepovers you allowed me to have at the house.
I am thankful you taught me how to be independent.
I could make a list that never ends, but I want you to know that I notice.
I notice when you gave me the last piece of cake, even though you were looking forward to it all day.
I notice the way you drive me around, even though it was the only time you could've sat down.
I notice how you pass up sleep, just to get a few moments of peace and quiet.
But most of all I notice how strong you are.
You taught me that when the going got tough, fight harder.
You may have been watching me grow up, but I was also watching you.
It is times like today, that I sit back and admire the life you have made for yourself,
a life I hope one day to achieve.
Although I never say these things enough out loud, I want you to know I think them.
Thanksgiving gave me time to reflect on what I am truly thankful for, and I have to say......
It has to be the two of you.
